What does your weekend look like?
If you happen to live in the Gainesville, GA or Atlanta area, I have a suggestion
for you! For the rest of you – consider this a prayer request! OR, hop on a
plane, train, bike, or skateboard and join us.
Last summer,
Don started the Freedom
Project, a student-led initiative of two ATL-area youth groups to
raise $40,000 to build a girls’ home in Cambodia with the Hard Places Community.
Some of you are familiar with that organization….We’ve worked with them on previous trips to Cambodia.
It’s founder, Alli, was the Director of the Real Life program when we first
began with AIM. In 2008, she moved
to Cambodia and started doing ministry in anti-trafficking. Shortly after, I
made a trip to support her and her ministry. Jumping forward – One of their
ministries are girls’ and boys’ homes, where children/teens can come and be
safe. They’ve built the boys home and now it’s time to build the one for girls!
So far, the students have raised around $16,000, which is incredible! But we
would love for them to raise the full amount, and to do so before some of them
go to Cambodia in July to work with the Hard Places
Community.
This Saturday, May 11, there are two BIG events!
The Crocodile
Crawl: Whether you can run, walk, or crawl, come out and join us for
a 5K at Fellowship Bible Church in Roswell, Ga! It’s $25 to register and the
deadline to register online is Thursday, May 9. To register, please click the
banner above.
Nefarious: Merchant of Souls: Join us Saturday
night at 6:30pm at Lanier Hills Church on Ducket Mill Road in Gainesville, GA
for a showing of Nefarious: Merchant of Souls. Doors open at 5:30pm and
Chick-fil-a/Papa’s Pizza will be available to purchase for dinner. This is a
great way to learn more about the reality of anti-traffficking in today’s
world- not only overseas but in our backyards as well (Atlanta is a major hub
for trafficking). For more information, please click the banner above.
I will be at both of these events and would love to see you! Please be praying
for this event, spread the word to people in the area, and come if you can!
Thank you!
