The day after turning 41, I did it. I took care of the sciatica pain. I bit the bullet and had the surgery. Why not? I was so close to reaching my deductible – and who knows what the next year will hold. The outcome of this type of surgery has a very high success rate at 95%!

I went in one day for surgery and was released the next! All looks well! I had a very large herniated disc. They drained the “stuff” leaving more room for the sciatic nerves to move without being mashed. This has left my left calf and foot numb, but I don’t care right now! They say it’s normal and over time the feeling should return.

I have a incision on my lower back that is healing nicely, or so I hear. I am not permitted to twist, bend etc. There is no picking up, no leaning. Do you know ow hard this is? At 6 feet – how does one not bend? I’m so grateful that the timing of this and mom and dad temporarily living with us overlapped! Dad has been on duty mowing the lawn and cooking. Mom has dishes, laundry and all things related to meds under control. They all share in the dog duties…and Don, Don has been a champ even while still recovering form his ACL surgery.

I can not go any longer without saying thank you all for your prayers. Your emails, text, facebook messages, pizza, Starbucks and the “Gainesville famous” red elephant message!  It’s good to be surrounded by a community who is available and wanting to walk thru not just the good, but also the difficult. Thank you!

I came home to this… I work with some amazing and strange people. I like.
