The investigators arrived at 10 and left by 1:00. No coffee...kind, and right to the point. Asking permission to record our time, I agreed and questions began. I rambled and rambled...sometimes lost in my own thoughts. How could this have happened? What do I share? What do I not share? What is important? They were respectful and did not push when I would say, "I don't care to go into this". Bottom line - I offered my piece of the messy puzzle that is called Tambo. 1,056 pieces/students.

From what I have gathered, The scope of the investigation covers 1959 - 2004 when my boarding school was closed. They expect this investigation to last 2-3 years. The alleged perpetrator list has 42 names taken from the interviews thus far.

FORTY TWO.

Now it's their turn to figure out if my piece fits and where it goes. Prior to turning off the recorder - they asked if there was anything I needed from them, what suggestions do I have. I drew a blank. Again, lost in my world of memories...good and bad. They thanked me, offered counseling if I would like and handed me business cards. The door closed and it was over. And it was good. Of course as I reflect, I was a bit of a wreck ...but I hoped I helped. I wished for a re-do. Not just of the interview but of the years spent at Tambo. I am reminded...God is bigger than even this.

But really? No coffee!

For the record...I loved my time at Tambo and no, my parents did not make me attend the NTMS boarding school. I chose to go. I'm not proud of many things, but I'm not going to live a victim of things that have happened. I choose differently. After graduating in 1990...I waited until 2010 to return, 20 years later. It was so good to return and show my husband my old stomping grounds. To read more about my return trips, please click on these links:

I'm moving forward - I'm bringing awareness. I have no doubt that what has happened in the past has had an impact on who I am and what I do today with Purchase Effect and Adventures in Missions. Together we can make a difference. Thank you for partnering with us. Over the next week, I will share more specifically how you can get involved. I have two needs at this time:

Prayer warriors. People who will pray daily for Don and I, Adventures, our church, Purchase Effect...and the list goes on.

Financial supporters. I continue to fall behind in monthly support by around $450 a month. I've been using reserves for a time now, but that is running low. To support financially, look to the left. There is a "support us" link at the very top under main menu.  Thank you. Thank you...for hanging with us. Riding this rollercoaster called life. We need you.

Don started working at Lanier Hills Church as the Pastor for Student Ministries in December. The student ministry kicked off strong after the new year began. I... once again find myself involved in the ins and outs of being a pastor's wife... of laughter with the women of the church, learning the names of all of the students, opening our home to high school leadership every Tuesday night, and my heart to all. Becoming part of this new family has been encouraging. They've been beyond welcoming... excited about Don and I and the ministry we share. Funny... two years ago we tried to sell our home, only to no interest. Now Don works at a church less than 3 minutes away. Looks like God knew what he was doing!
